Reflection / Retrospective
Something that I have failed to do in my personal life is making an active effort to document on things that went well / what went poorly.
Usually, all of this self-reflection is handled subconsciously in the background and I let all of the ideas and thoughts simmer until that "lightbulb" moment.
I rarely get that "aha" moment and suffer through a lot of internal churn and turmoil.
I want to break from this pattern and establish a space and time for myself to take stock of the current situation and improve things moving forward.
"I am proud of myself when I am balanced and don't let my emotions control me" - Winnie
Things that went well
- I learned a crazy amount in two specific domains: creativity (I learned how to use my camera, edit videos & pictures, tell a story) and self-discovery (finding balance, doing what feels good).
- Listening to my body and mind that I needed to take care of myself
- Changing my mindset from seeing obstacles and instead seeing opportunities for growth
Things that can improve
- There were times where I felt very unbalanced and began to get in the way of life
- Feeling very pressured to be creative everyday and wanting the videos to get better -> i redirected this to make the videos for myself for my own growth
- I wanted to quit because I didn't have any ideas
- Letting the stress get to me because I felt like I was out of control with spending money. I am not used to not making any money and just spending it makes it feel very real.
- My diet, finding that eating out and processed food makes me not feel great
- I barely wrote at all during this time and I think this made me feel like I was always rushed and I didn't have a plan
Next Steps / Focus Points for the next month
- Need to shift my mindset that I am investing into myself and to let go of expectations so that I can absorb as much as I can from this experience and let it take me where I need to go.
- Find balance from moment to moment. Remaining present and not letting myself focus too much on the future.
- Taking more time to be mindful and reflect on my experience (weekly?)
- Dialing in my diet and eating/cooking foods that make my body and brain feel good
- Continuing to let go and go with the flow
