Thankful for a stranger’s kindness
Earlier this week, I was distraught. I had a long day and the only thing I wanted to do was watch Criminal Minds, but one thing got in the way; I lost access to my Hulu account.
I reset my password 5 times, and the password was still wrong. I had no hope but to call into customer support. Then, the dreaded “our calls are busier than usual, expect longer wait times”.
After 10 minutes of being on hold, I gave up and decided to try again the next day.
The next day I did my usual hot girl walk (learned about this on tiktok) around the neighborhood and reflected about how I needed to let go to allow love and kindness to fill my life. I then called Hulu support, and much to my surprise, Kasandra immediately picked up.
Right away, I could tell I was greeted by her smile, and I reciprocated her kindness with a matched positivity.
I started off by telling her that I’m glad I was able to connect with her because I really needed her help; I had done 5 password resets and my password still didn’t work. She said to me that the password resets were actually broken for Hulu and that she could definitely help me out. We went through the process and…
voilà I was in.
I told her as we wrapped up our conversation that I was so glad and appreciative that the password reset was broken because I was able to meet her and have a couple laughs.
For me, I think it’s not unusual to have a negative experience when needing to call a company for help. It’s definitely really hard to deal with all types of people everyday and try to solve their problems while they are going through their lives (whether they are being emotional, having a bad day, etc). From my point of view, it’s easy to have this stress accumulate and make it difficult to put on a smile every day.
Kasandra, if you’re reading this, you made my day. People like you make this world a better place and you definitely made a difference in my life. I learned an important lesson: let go of expectations and treat the world with love and kindness, and the world will in turn fill your life with love and kindness.
